On Wednesday, September 29, 2021 the National Defense University Foundation and the Institute for Strategic Studies' Center for the Study of Weapons of Mass Destruction hosted the Honorable Rose Gottemoeller for an exclusive book signing and roundtable discussion.
The Honorable Rose Gottemoeller was the first female Deputy Secretary General of NATO, the first woman to lead a major nuclear arms negotiation as Chief Negotiator, and served as Under Secretary of State for Arms Control and International Security at the U.S. State Department. She is currently Stanford University’s Steven C. Házy Lecturer at the Center for International Security and Cooperation and Research Fellow at the Hoover Institution.
Negotiating the New START Treaty by Rose Gottemoeller has been heralded by former Secretary of Defense William J. Perry, former Secretary of State George Shultz, and many other illustrious officials.
“As advances in technology usher in a new age of weaponry, future negotiators would benefit from reading Rose Gottemoeller’s memoir of the process leading to most significant arms control agreement of recent decades.” — Henry Kissinger, former U.S. Secretary of State
