ALL PROCEEDS FROM BOOK SALES THROUGH DECEMBER 31ST WILL BENEFIT THE NATIONAL DEFENSE UNIVERSITY FOUNDATION
On the anniversary of the December 7, 1941 Pearl Harbor attack, we at the National Defense University Foundation are commemorating the release of Dr. William J. Parker III’s book Guaranteeing America’s Security in the Twenty-First Century, a practitioner’s guide for how the United States can leverage its network of national security institutions to most effectively address future national security concerns.
Admiral James Stavridis, former Commander of the U.S. European Command and NATO’s 16th Supreme Allied Commander Europe, who provided the foreword, has said that this book “is not merely a result of academic analysis, it has been influenced by the authors’ own direct knowledge of challenges faced, and overcome, in Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan, the Horn of Africa, and elsewhere.”
Dr. Parker is a retired senior U.S. naval officer, having served for 27 years. During his career, he commanded warships, undertook multiple combat tours, served as Chief of Staff for the U.S. Naval Forces and was a senior strategist with U.S. embassies in Iraq and Pakistan. Dr. Parker holds a PhD from George Masons University’s department of molecular and microbiology and MA from Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government.
