The National Defense University Foundation (“NDUF” or the “Foundation”) sadly acknowledges the passing of President George H. W. Bush. “Today, America lost a former U.S. President, WW II Naval fighter pilot and truly great man in every sense of the word. George Herbert Walker Bush, who served our country from World War II through his final days, will be truly missed. President Bush epitomized patriotism. As an individual who cared deeply for his country, he continuously demonstrated that national and community interests should always come before self,” said Foundation President and CEO, Dr. William J. Parker III.

President Bush was awarded the Foundation’s American Patriot Award in 2002 for his selfless character, his love of country, his inspired leadership, and his enduring contributions to the security of our nation and the peace of the world. President Bush personified a tradition in which service to country is a way of life. The son of a Senator, the father of a governor and a President, during his life Bush was a war hero, a congressman, United Nations Ambassador, chairman of the Republican National Committee, U.S. envoy to the People’s Republic of China, director of the CIA, Vice President and President of the United States. He was one of the architects of America’s victory in the Cold War and of America’s unique position in the post-Cold War world.

The National Defense University Foundation is humbled to be associated with the legacy of President Bush and will miss him and all that he brought to our world.
